The Wedding of Mr & Mrs Holmden, 15th December 2018 - The Warren Estates, Maldon, Essex.
Only once in the last 25 years have I seen the groom Charlie, who made the drive to come and visit me at my home in Gloucestershire. We were at school together on top of a hill in a very windswept Staffordshire, and as it panned out, the weather for this stunning wedding would do exactly the same.
I went across to Essex the night before in a dreadful journey lasting some 4 1/2 hours, but after some real ale and a catch up with the "Pre Wedding Party", I headed to bed to be with Lucy fresh and early for bridal prep.
The calm atmosphere resounded around Lucy's parents house, a jovial sense of expectation.
I left to meet up with Charles at the gorgeous church of St Michael's, Woodham Walter where I was introduced to a tipple I would go on the purchase and consume over Christmas - The Kings Ginger! For this introduction, I shall forever be grateful!
Following an emotional ceremony , more Kings Ginger indulgence followed, then a short trip to the Warren Estates and into the Rose Barn.
Charles & Lucy arrived, drawn by 2 reindeer as the start of a memorable weather warning rain storm started.
Plenty of bubbles and canopés later, group shots were restricted to indoors, but there followed a fabulous wedding breakfast, and some hilarious and moving speeches.
Charles' mother wasn't there, she had passed some years previously, but if she was there... and I think she may have been, I know she would have been smiling.
Thanks Guys! Wishing you a fabulous future together x
